A pink slip, also known as an e-safety check, is required when registering a vehicle in NSW. All light vehicles must have a pink slip inspection, which assesses the safety of the vehicle. The inspection includes tests on the brakes, tyres, suspension and other vital components.
A blue slip is required when registering a vehicle that's never been registered in NSW before, or if it's been more than five years since the last pink slip was issued. The blue slip inspection is similar to the pink slip, but with a few additional tests.

Pink & Blue Slip – Post-Inspection
After your vehicle passes the inspection, we'll issue you with a certificate and send an electronic notification to Service NSW. You'll then be able to register your vehicle as normal.
If your vehicle doesn't pass the inspection, we'll provide you with a report detailing the defects that need to be repaired. Once these repairs have been made, you can bring the car back for a re-inspection. Alternatively, we can undertake the repairs for you and then provide you with the certification.
